Prepare your website for sale.
A practical walkthrough of what to organize before you list, what buyers ask for, and how to run a clean handoff.
1. Gather your numbers
Pull the last 6-12 months of revenue, expenses and traffic from the sources you actually use. Keep exports handy for diligence.
2. Define exactly what's for sale
Separate what transfers from what doesn't — personal accounts, shared infrastructure and anything licensed to you.
3. Price with a reason
Buyers respond better to a price you can explain than to a round number. Tie it to profit, growth, assets or strategic value.
4. Write for a skeptical reader
Answer 'how does it make money', 'why are you selling' and 'what would I have to do' in the first few lines.
5. Prepare the diligence pack
Analytics access, revenue exports, tech overview and a list of dependencies. Being ready shortens deals significantly.
6. Plan the handoff
Domain transfer, repository access, third-party accounts and any support period. Agree this in writing before payment moves.
